I love Santa Fe. I had forgotten just how great this place makes me feel. Working at the opera is like being at summer camp: we work really late and stay out even later drinking together; we have themed parties, like "high society" and "underwear on the outside"; we go in a huge group to karaoke at the nearly deserted bowling alley bar and completely take it over; we have huge parties with bonfires out in the middle of the desert that last until sunrise. Last week the paint shop challenged the costume crafts shop to a tug-of-war. They spent the whole week sending taunts back and forth and on Friday at lunch they all showed up to the match with team t-shirts and cheerleaders. Of course we're all working 80-90 hour weeks so we're a little delerious but it's fun.

As of right now I'm still planning to visit Dallas for a few days when I leave here. My last day is July 31. I should be able to leave by about 1 or 2 in the afternoon, which would put me in Dallas around midnight. I'd love to hang out and meet some of you crazy Dallas folks if you're going to be socializing that evening. Also, I'm not sure just yet if I'll be able to stay with my high school friend so if anyone's couch might be available for crashing on I'd love to know. Daniel, I know you said I could crash with you but it sounds like you might be in the middle of moving then. Anyway, let me know what's up.

I can't believe how quickly this summer has gone by. I guess that's what happens when all you do is work and drink. The third opera is opening tonight and there's a big opening party afterwards that won't even start until 12:30, and a friend of mine is having a pre-party at her house and I'm already so tired I could pass out sitting here typing. No matter. I'll have a shower and a red bull and I'll be ready to go again. I actually have the whole day off tomorrow so I can catch up a little on sleep.
